OPTIMAL-DOCK, developed on the framework of the regional project CPER CISIT, is an aided decision making tool designed and developed to focus on management of cross-docking operations. Its main objective is to optimize assignment of trucks to docks such that inbound trucks are sorted out, reorganized based on customer demands, routed and loaded into outbound trucks for delivery to customers without the items being actually held in inventory at the warehouse. This tool allows us, with a convivial interface, modeling and representing a problem in a cross-dock, choosing a solution method and calculating performance indicators. A more recent version called OPTIMAL-DOCK TOUCH is developed later to give the possibility to users to interact in real time with the application and change the solution if necessary. It’s designed to be used on a touch screen.
