Title : Traffic modeling and estimation, a hybrid approach

Abstract :
Traffic congestion is becoming more and more common in urban networks and highways around the last few years. Indeed, in order to facilitate the improvement and implementation of intelligent transport system applications, modeling and estimation of traffic are essential elements in this field. For this, in this presentation we will briefly discuss the macroscopic modeling of the flow, as well as the hybrid model proposed for the description the traffic flow, which takes into account the different phenomena of congestion. On the other hand, we also present a new strategy of model-based estimation using hybrid system notions in the synthesis of a hybrid observer for the estimation of traffic data. These results are validated by real data of Californian highways.
